Throughout history, humans have always tried to understand the mysterious power of toxins. In doing so, they sometimes discovered healing medicine, and sometimes lethal mixtures. This DVD treats the history and origin of poisons and their use by man. The most common and most dangerous known poisons are introduced. A journey into the body unveils the secrets of the deadly substances and shows how poisons work and why some kill slowly and painfully while others take effect suddenly and unexpectedly. Many plants and fungi produce life-threatening substances. But animal poisons are unparalleled in their effects. Poland
This DVD conveys to the pupils a comprehensive picture of the European neighbour state of Poland. Topographical information on Poland is followed by an overview of its typical natural landscapes, for instance the Baltic seashore from the Pomeranian Bay to the Gulf of Gdansk, the adjacent hills of the “Baltic Ridge” und the lowlands of Silesia and Mazovia. Polizei
Mit ihrer Körpergröße von 1,70 Metern würde Joeys Karriere als Polizistin nichts im Wege stehen. Denn um sich der Spezialausbildung in Kampfsport, Fahr- und Klettertraining sowie einer umfassenden Schießausbildung auf der Polizeischule unterziehen zu dürfen, muss man strenge Vorgaben erfüllen. Neben einer entsprechenden Körperlänge, sind das Gewicht sowie sportliche Fähigkeiten entscheidend. Wer die Aufnahmeprüfung übersteht – in Deutschland sind das jährlich ca. 1.500 Männer und Frauen – durchläuft eine drei Jahre lang harte Schule mit einem einzigen Ziel vor Augen: die grüne Uniform! Doch neuerdings geht der Trend zu blau. Hamburg macht es vor und schickt seine Gesetzeshüter statt in waldgrün in enzianblau auf den Kiez. Doch die Hansestadt ist auch in einer anderen Disziplin ganz weit vorne: Im Verteilen von „Knöllchen“. Ob Falschparken, Temposünden oder Ruhestörungen, den Hamburger Polizisten entgeht fast nichts. Aber was kostet es, wenn man am Steuer zu viel Promille im Blut hat, einen Beamten beleidigt oder bei rot über die Ampel geht? Die Antwort darauf findet man im so genannten Bußgeldkatalog. Muss man diesen zu häufig konsultieren oder macht man sich anderer Vergehen schuldig, droht dem Delinquenten irgendwann der Gang ins Gericht.

Postal Service
The postal service as an organisation for the delivery of news and retail goods through letters, postcards, parcels and packages is considered a part of the pupils‘ life experience and thus dealt with at primary school. This film is meant to illustrate this important procedural part of the children‘s lives and to make it intelligible to them. It deals with the writing, addressing, stamping and sending of a letter, with the importance of stamps, with the letter box and its emptying and the journey of a letter or a package from the sender to the addressee. Both as an introduction to the topic and as a tool in the hands of the pupils when working individually or preparing projects, the DVD and the didactically arranged accompanying material are perfectly suited for the classroom. A short excursus on the history of the stamp and a glance behind the scenes of a letter centre as well as a sorting centre, which usually cannot be visited, complete this informative DVD on the postal service.

Prayer
The prayer, a fundamental religious act, which may be formulated in the form of a request, a thanksgiving or as a dialogue. Whether in Islam, Christianity, Buddhism, Hinduism or Judaism – in all five world religions, the prayer is a communion with their God or a Higher Power. Thanking God, asking him for something, recapitulating the day, finding peace – all that can be contained in a prayer. We pray because we are looking for answers, consolation and strength and because in times of stress we seek peace and reflection. Some people also pray out of tradition or out of a sense of duty to their God. Some may also wish to have their prayers answered. There are studies investigating whether what we ask for in prayer actually comes true. The results, however, are not unequivocal. But to the one who prays this is no reason to stop. For the benefit of prayer cannot be measured by studies. For many the happiness of praying consists less in having their requests answered than in their contact with God. Ob mit aufwändigen Mitteln oder im kleinen Rahmen ganz nebenbei – fast überall wird man beobachtet. Jedoch birgt diese transparente Welt jede Menge Gefahren. "Schau dich schlau!" versucht deshalb herauszufinden, wie es möglich ist, seine Spuren im Alltag zu verwischen. Ob Facebook oder Twitter – es wird gepostet, gebloggt, kommentiert und dabei oft viel zu viel preisgegeben. Die "Schau dich schlau!"-Moderatoren Joey Grit Winkler und Fero Andersen werden dieses Mal vor eine besondere Herausforderung gestellt: Sie sollen den genauen Tagesablauf des jeweils anderen an einem ihnen nicht bekannten Tag des Monats wiedergeben. Wer mehr Infos zusammenträgt, gewinnt das Duell. Fero hofft auf nützliche Informationen über das Facebook-Profil seiner Kontrahentin. Des Weiteren engagiert er einen Privatdetektiv und versteckt eine Kamera vor Joeys Wohnung. Dagegen setzt sie bei ihrer Mission auf Handyortung und bringt sich selbst ins Spiel. Mit Hilfe der passenden Verkleidung verfolgt sie Fero auf Schritt und Tritt. In Gesprächen mit seinen Kollegen und Freunden hofft sie auf besondere Informationen zu stoßen, um die Spionage-Challenge für sich zu entscheiden. Außerdem in der Sendung: Ohne Bedenken telefonieren – das dürfte doch wohl möglich sein.
