Man sieht sie in vielen Gärten: Insektenhotels. Der Film stellt die Bewohner:innen dieser Bauwerke vor und zeigt, wie man aus Schilfrohren, Querschnitten von Baumstämmen und anderen Materialien selbst ein Insektenhotel bauen kann. Weniger bekannt ist das Sandarium für bodenlebende Insekten, das mit wenig Aufwand ebenfalls gebaut werden kann. Mit dem Bau eines Vogelhäuschens schließt der Film die Vorstellung der Nisthilfen in unseren Breiten ab.
