Im Film kommen weitere ehrenamtliche Helfer:innen u.a. aus den Bereichen Soziales, Sport und Politik zu Wort. Aus der Praxis wird das Ehrenamt als freiwilliges, unbezahltes Amt innerhalb des Solidaritätsprinzips im Sozialstaat Deutschland definiert und auf Herausforderungen hingewiesen. Des Weiteren geht der Film auf die Bedeutung der Ausübung eines Ehrenamtes für den Einzelnen ein und hebt den Stellenwert der eigenen Identitätsbildung innerhalb der Gesellschaft hervor.
