Canis lupus, der Urahn der Haushunde, war einst auf nahezu der gesamten Nordhalbkugel heimisch, ehe er ab dem 15. Jahrhundert systematisch verfolgt und beinahe ausgerottet wurde. Der Film stellt den Wolf vor, der in den vergangenen Jahren wieder nach Deutschland eingewandert ist. Die Besonderheiten im Sozialverhalten, das Jagdverhalten, die wichtige Funktion als ‚Gesundheitspolizei‘ des Waldes werden in zahlreichen Experteninterviews beleuchtet. Konflikte mit Schäfern und Landwirten werden ebenso thematisiert wie die Arbeit der Wolfsberater. In Verbindung mit dem umfangreichen Zusatzmaterial (Arbeitsblätter, interaktive Aufgaben, Testfragen, Glossar) lässt sich die vorliegende DVD hervorragend im Unterricht einsetzen.
