Der Film definiert und zeigt die unterschiedlichen – mitunter Jahrmillionen dauernden – Abschnitte der Gesteinsbildung und die Prozesse ihrer ständig dynamischen Veränderungen und Umwandlungen. Beschrieben werden die für die Gesteinsbildung verantwortlichen endogenen und exogenen Prozesse, die Hauptgesteinsklassen der Magmatite, Sedimentite und Metamorphite und die Vorgänge der Verwitterung, Erosion und Ablagerung. Interaktive Aufgaben, Testfragen und Glossar wurden mit H5P erstellt und können ohne weitere Software verwendet werden.
