Ein alter Bauer findet eine Schlange im Schnee und wärmt sie unter seinem Mantel. Die Schlange zeigt allerdings keine Dankbarkeit, sondern beißt den Bauern. In 16 liebevoll illustrierten Tafeln wird gezeigt, dass "lieb" und "böse" menschliche Kategorien sind, die nicht einfach auf Natur und Tierwelt angewendet werden können.
